Mike Wistow is a former English Lecturer who left Education to work in Probation, Health, Local Government and Consultancy. He chaired a national research body bringing evidence-based practice into criminal justice policy; he has implemented Lean/Systems Thinking in a range of Public and Third Sector organisations.
At heart he remains an educationalist. He has recently completed a four year period as a Governor at a Further Education College and would love to see governors and managers of colleges and schools using the principles he has helped others to implement.
Lean/Systems Thinking is about recognising waste – and then getting rid of it so we mostly do what is important. Mike Wistow will summarise the principles and give examples in order to stimulate ideas about how we might work this way in the FE and skills sector.
