Les Ebdon, Director of Fair Access to Higher Education, “Success is not simply getting someone from a disadvantaged background into HE – it’s about making sure students get the most from their studies and beyond.” Students from disadvantaged backgrounds are 8.4% more likely to drop out of university compared to those from the most advantaged backgrounds with similar grades. Coaching for University will explore some of the steps teachers can take to create a climate of independent and resilient learning. This will include setting values, thoughtful corridor questioning and analysing failure with some black box thinking.
